Diving deep into the relationship between statistics and politics can be a slippery slope. In the UK, Labour have a lead across the country in terms of votes from ethnic minorities. The Conservatives however, are gaining ground, especially amongst the UK Asian population. The Conservatives are currently the favoured party for Sikh’s and Muslims. Black people make up 3-5% of the UK population so don’t really have a huge amount of influence and is probably why there isn’t much black representation in politics. The politicians do not need to pamper to the needs of black people because the black vote is not a significant demographic when it comes to politics. Political funding in the UK
Political parties can receive funds through membership fees, donations and state funding. The first effort in history to try and regulate finance in politics came in 1883 when the UK passed the Corrupt and Illegal practices Act. The post-presidential race rhetoric is coming in from every Tom, twat and Harry about Donald Trump and his anti-muslim ,wall building & misogynistic sentiments. The mud slinging is in full effect and anger is at boiling point for anti-Trump supporters, understandably. He’s a reality TV star who is now in control of the most powerful Country in the world, and that in itself shows how the political system in America is severely broken.
Propaganda is so powerful these days that the media can make you believe anything. Especially in the weird and wonderful world of politics. With the up and coming US presidential election we have been given a delectable bad guy in the form of Donald Trump who is most famous for the Celebrity apprentice TV show. We have always known him to speak his mind, and in the current debates he has been given a platform to showcase his borderline bigotry and the whole world ran with it. Trump speaks as a lone wolf amongst controlled monsters who spout corporate rhetoric in the hope of receiving votes. He is different and will have a tough time if he is to win. He has however, had some progressive things to say in his speeches and debates.
