Producer and Director of Blood diamond Edward Zwick has worked on a number of epic action packed movies such as Legends of the fall, glory, traffic and the Last Samurai. He also executively produces the new Nat Turner movie, birth of a nation. Thoughtful concepts, excellent visionary materialisation and compelling writing have made the projects he has been involved in successful and meaningful. This is a name that we should look out for in the future as I’m sure he’ll have another awe inspiring production coming soon.
In 2015 there were 1192 murders in Jamaica. The country had about 45 slayings per 100,000 people in 2015 keeping it ranked as one of the world’s most violent countries. By comparison Chicago, which has roughly the same population as Jamaica, around 2.7 million, had 468 killings in 2015. With the recent Olympics showcasing the physical superiority of some of Jamaica’s athletes, the darker side to real Jamaican issues gets pushed aside. Usain Bolt has brought a lot of attention to Jamaica but he gets more attention as an individual than the Country as a whole.
Azealia Banks is probably more mentally stable than you.
Azealia Banks is a female American rapper born in 1991. Notorious for her sharp tongue and liberating music, Azealia has inspired just as many people as she has offended and her life journey seems to reflect this. Growing up she had a troubled childhood. Her Dad passed away from pancreatic cancer when she was 2 and her mom submitted Azealia and her two sisters to physical and emotional abuse.
Skepta aka Joseph Junior Adenuga born in 1982 is an MC from Tottenham North London. He started his musical career as a DJ and began to develop his own sound as part of the roll deep crew with his brother JME. Grime was still underground at this stage and a lot of the music and MC’s sounded the same. Skepta didn’t really stand out at this point as Wiley, Kano and Dizzee Rascal became the evolving faces of the scene. Skepta branched out to form Boy Better Know which was a truly independent record label. From here Skepta’s originality and audible proficiency was showcased on a variety of singles, mix-tapes and clashes. The sound remained within genre, with typical grime beats and a jabbing flow. Listen to ‘Microphone champion’ and you can see the potential of the artist swallowed up by what the status-quo expected from a grime artists at the time. This is why the grime scene stayed stagnant for so long.
Trinidad James ft Mystikal and Lil Dicky – Just a lil thick. Trinidad James’s verse was mediocre which is where he’s always been as a rapper. Mystikal shouts too much and probably shouldn’t be around all these women in the video. Lil Dicky kills them both in flow, lyirical content and wit.
An Indonesian martial arts fest that is skull-splinteringly violent, uncompromisingly intense and simply brilliant. The fight scenes are visually sublime, and the actors fulfil their roles superbly. The leading man is Iko Uwais who tops the list of martial arts heroes and is directed by the Welsh film-maker Gareth Huw Evans, who keeps a 10-tonne weight positioned on the accelerator from start to finish. In Enter the Dragon, Bruce Lee famously says: “We need emotional content, not anger.” But frankly there seems to be an awful lot of anger here and its brilliant. I can’t believe that the filming ended without some pretty serious hospitalisation for everyone concerned. There really aren’t many films that will have you holding clenched fists to the corners of your mouth for over an hour and a half. I was forever bleating the two clipped monosyllables of shock: “Ohhhsh … ” and “Ohhhhf …”. Totally Freaking Awesome!
Tupac Shakur, born June 1971. He was a well known rapper, who was infamously known for his trouble with the law and his prominent West Coast affiliation. Even though he was born in East Harlem, New York.
I always admired how Tupac came across in some of his interviews and some of his song lyrics are deep. Some people would describe him as a conscious rapper who speaks to black youth, a lyrical soldier afraid of no one. He’s also been labelled as the greatest rapper of all time. Many young black children today look up to Tupac as a visionary leader and there have been numerous documentaries supporting these claims as his fan love is constantly splattered all over the internet.

Football fans are the best in the world. They support their team with vicious dedication. The 12th man, as Alex Ferguson described them, is a big part of the game, and the fans have come up with some humorous anecdotes to try and get underneath the skin of the opposition. Every now and then, they take it a bit too far.
